More than anything we do at Tin Jug Studio, art classes and craft workshops for children have been the most popular and consistently attended. Children really enjoy our art and craft classes!
There's plenty of individual attention, kind encouragement, and an opening of their imaginations, along with pleasant chatter, fun and great variety.

They like stepping through the little door into the 'magic' garden, and love to meet our gentle pets too. |
Each class has a structure or a theme, but within that, and following completion of their first piece, children are free to follow their own ideas and ask for help, anytime.

We allow them to make a mess but they are shown how to take care of paintbrushes and use scissors responsibly. They are at ease to choose to sit at the antique school desks, stand at tables, curl up on the sofa or kneel at the platforms, to do their artwork - this usually helps them relax and become peacefully absorbed.

Drawing and painting, clay and plasticine modelling, papier-maché, origami, glass painting, writing and illustrating their own stories, poster design, floral arrangements, decorations and card-making....and many other arts and crafts have been taught here.

Sometimes there are opportunities to exhibit their own art in our open gallery, making their own invitations for visitors to come.

Parents are very welcome to sit and stay for lemonade and cookies to be sure their children are content. Classes include refreshments and all materials.
CLASSES:
Classes for children aged 6 - 9 years old, take place on Wednesday afternoons from October to April. They run for four weeks, followed by a week's break and then a further four weeks, and so on. Please check the Events Page for further details on special design classes, workshops and so on for older children, on other days of the week.
