Creative Workshops for Children:
Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival,
Hullabaloo Children's Arts Festival,
and of course,
'Chocolate Fridays' and 'Chocolate Saturdays'!
'Chocolate Fridays' / 'Chocolate Saturdays'
No set time of year for these special two-hour creative workshops!
They are an opportunity for children/adults to 'make and eat' Themes are usually 'craft' rather than 'art' orientated and have included clay modelling, painting pottery (which is fired off-site and returned for collection), paper-making and making greetings cards.
Everyone gets Grainne's utterly delicious home-made chocolate treats with refreshments at the end of the workshops.
A new festival in Birr, for children, in late October. During schools break, organised by Offaly Arts Office, Birr Theatre and Arts Centre, Birr Library, Birr Castle and Tin Jug Studio, a wonderful variety of events and workshops is held for children of all ages.
These range from dance and juggling to film-making and photography and lots more going on around town at these various venues.
At Tin Jug Studio there are story-writing, mask/ghost/costume/lantern/'float the boat'-making and traditional games workshops....
